What is an FYItag Widget?

An FYItag Widget is a quick link that contains all of the information a person would need to connect to you over multiple social media connections. This "badge" is a great way to eliminate the clutter and confusion that comes with having so many social media networks. Too many network icons and links on your website or email blast can distract users and take away from the message you are trying to convey. Because it is also visually customizable, it complements the look and feel of your existing electronic media.

Creating an FYItag Widget:

To create a widget you need to first log in to www.fyitag.com. If you don’t have an FYItag profile yet, click on “Sign Up” in the upper right hand corner of the site. After you have logged in, a new menu bar will show up towards the top of the screen: Profile, My Blog, Support, Widget, Billing and Lists. Click on the “Widget” link.

Name:

This is the name of the widget, not your name. You may want to create different widgets for different types of communication. For example, you may have one look for your email newsletters and another look for your website. Make sure to give it a name that will help you remember what you designed it for. For example: “EmailWidget” would be for your email blasts and “WebWidget” would go on your website.

Size:

There are three size choices for your widget: small, medium, and large. If you aren’t sure what size you would like, don’t worry, you can preview and change the sizes later.

Widget Shape:

One size does not fit all, and sometimes shapes don’t either! You can choose between a square, horizontal, or vertical badge to fit your purpose. Back to top Widget Style: The Widget Style helps you customize the "badge." Choose between color, color inverted, black on white, or white on black.

Widget Background:

The background selection allows you to customize your widget's background. If the badge is going on a website that has a primarily black background and uses darker tones, you may want to use the “Dark-Stylish-Background” to match. If you want simple and clean, you may want to go with the “Borderless – Stylish – Image”. Once you have selected something from every field, you can choose to preview the badge to see how it looks. You can now play around with different combinations to get exactly what you want. Back to top Embed Code: Just below the widget preview you will also see a bunch of code. You can cut and paste this code to place the widget on your website or email.

Note: Every email system has slightly different ways of inserting “embed code”. Consult your email system's help for instructions on how to properly embed the code created here.
